Places we like to fly
This is a list of places we think are worth visiting, some we have found in our own travels, and some have been recommended. The only criterion is that it is an aviation friendly destination. If you have found somewhere that fits the description we would love to hear from you so we can add it to the list.
Please check the details provided are current before visiting any of the places listed, and let us know if we should remove any from the list.

Our favourite place is Toumbaal Plains House. This is an amazing house on the coast of northern New South Wales. The airstrip is right next to the house, and the house has some very unusual features. Perfect for a group of up to 6 people, or very romantic just for two.
If a weekend winery trip is what you are looking for try Summerfield Vineyard where there is an airstrip and accommodation available, in the Pyrenees wine region of Victoria.
Also in the Pyrenees is Warrenmang Vineyard Resort which has accommodation, a restaurant and plenty of activities including wine tasting and tours. The airstrip is adjacent to the resort.
Maygars Hill is a winery and bed and breakfast in the Strathbogie Ranges. They have their own airstrip, the details are on their website.
Asses Ears Wilderness Lodge in the Grampians has cabin accommodation right on the airfield and plenty to do and see.

Fraser Island Resort in the Gippsland Lakes area of Victoria has its own (slightly tricky) airstrip, nine hole golf course, pool and tennis courts.
For something a bit different try Tuki Trout Farm, they have accommodation, a restaurant, and you are guaranteed to catch a trout! They will even cook it for you. They have an airstrip, although it is not mentioned on the website. It’s close to Ballarat so makes a good place for a day trip from anywhere around Melbourne. Call first for permission to use the airfield and local information.

Below is a great google map where all airstrips marked are walking distance (generally 1km or less) from food, and usually a pub as well. It also lists some of the airfields that have regular BBQs or Aeroclubs on site serving food on certain days. Listings for Victoria are fairly sparse, but it is still a handy resource.
