It is our mission to offer quality aircraft maintenance to discerning aircraft owners with service and support to exceed all expectations.
Transaero is a small company operated by Rob and Kim Skyring. Both have deep roots in aviation, Rob as an engineer and enthusiastic pilot and Kim as a commercial pilot, aviation enthusiast and business manager. Caring for aircraft is more than just a job to them - it’s what they most enjoy doing. When they are not working on aircraft you will find them flying their vintage aircraft to aviation events around the country.
Transaero is committed to safety excellence in Aviation. We strive to maintain the highest standards of quality through our unique mix of old-fashioned values and modern innovation. Through practical application of Safety and Quality management systems, we endeavour to provide a comprehensive aircraft maintenance and airworthiness control service tailored to meet the varied needs of today’s aviators.

Transaero People
Rob is a very ‘hands on’ Chief Engineer, and loves to pass on his knowledge to anyone that asks. He likes to see owners and pilots learning more about their aircraft and participating in maintenance. His enthusiasm for aeroplanes began as a teenager when he started flying gliders and did work experience working on a RAAF Mirage. In his spare time, Rob can be found tinkering with old motorbikes or flying old aeroplanes. He is also a keen, but usually frustrated, fisherman.
Kim grew up around aeroplanes, and as a child played hide and seek around the hangar while her father was restoring an Auster. After years of travelling the country in the Auster, Kim went solo on her 16th birthday and went on to complete her commercial pilots licence. Her flying has taken her to outback cattle stations, Great Barrier Reef islands, and many deserted airfields in between. She still flies her Dad’s Auster, and ferries aircraft as required around the country. She will occasionally be seen getting her hands dirty in the hangar, but is more likely to be found cooking up a gourmet lunch!
History of Transaero
Transaero was started in 1984 by Dennis Bootle. Originally, Transaero supported Pilatus in Australia, providing parts for the Airforce PC9 and Army Aviation Pilatus Porter. It began at Riddells Creek and in 1988 moved to ‘Penfield’ airfield near Sunbury and branched out into Aircraft Maintenance and Component Manufacturing. The Company remained in the Bootle family until 2001, when it was sold to Theo Van Boxtel. In January 2007 Theo sold Transaero to the present owners, Rob and Kim Skyring, who moved from Queensland to run the business. In mid 2013 Transaero relocated from Penfield to Maryborough in Central Victoria.
